Use Heavy Whipping Cream To Make Butter

Making your own butter from heavy whipping cream is very easy, saves you money, is better for you than margarine, and you also get buttermilk (an expensive item in the market to buy). Buttermilk is good to drink, and is great for baking and making salad dressings.

While I think making butter is something every child should get to do once in a while; I cannot imagine that it is economical in the US right now. As I recall, we got only a few tablespoons of butter from a half pint of cream, making the butter about 8 dollars (or more) per pound.

If you have an inexpensive source for cream, you might do better!

I always found this a fun project to do with kids. I liked it for the kids who had too much energy, you can have them hop and jump to music.

I found if you want salted butter you should salt after it is butter or it takes longer.
