Removing Hair From a Gold Chain?

I wear a gold chain around my neck all the time and it often gets a lot of hair in it. Anyone know an easier way to get the hair out than trying to pick/pull it out with my fingers? Thanks in advance.

Use tweezers.

Is it the chain clasp (the kind you pinch to open) your hair is getting stuck in? If so just have a jeweler replace the clasp with a 'barrel clasp' and you'll have no more problems ;-)

I hold mine over a flame for 2 seconds.

BE CAREFUL with the match method. I had the same problem with hair in my 14 carat gold chain. I used the match method and it burned my chain in HALF. Don't try it!!!

Most likely your gold chain was not entirely gold or merely gold plated. Gold has a high melting point.

My 14k Gold Chain handles flame without a problem because it is 100% gold through and through.

This caused the chain to turn black, even with just a quick flame; haven't been able to get it off completely. I've tried several things...

I use a small pair of scissors and/or a straight pin to carefully remove the hair tangle.

Use the flame of a lighter or candle for one or two seconds and then wipe it down with a soft cloth. If it's sooty, a little toothpaste rubbed on and then rinsed with water will shine it up.

Good luck.

Pumice stone. Lightly rub over area where the hair is and it comes off quickly. Another thing is to soak it in Nair hair removal cream for about 5 minutes.

That should be a pumice stone, which can be used as a light abrasive.

I cannot believe how good the pumice stone worked
