Aloe Vera Gel for Minor Burns

Keeping an aloe vera plant or aloe vera gel in your home for burns or sunburn is great. If using gel, I have found Ocean Potion Instant Burn Relief Ice gel works best.

Cover burn or sunburn completely with gel. If using plant, break off a piece of stem from aloe vera plant and squeeze gel from piece of plant directly onto burn. Leave on, do not wash off, reapply as needed.

After a few minutes, the pain completely goes away and most of the time will not even blister.

For minor burns only; serious burns need medical attention. Aloe vera plants can be purchased at a local home improvement center (nursery section) or local plant nursery.

If you've never used aloe vera before just try a tiny bit first because some people are highly sensitive to it. I can't use anything with even a little bit of aloe because it gives me a very painful and sometimes blistering rash.

Take advice from a Floridian. The very best thing for painful, red sunburn is to open Vitamin E capsules and very gently pat the Vitamin E on the burn. It makes the pain go away instantly and it also helps lubricate the skin and keep it from cracking. I found this out by experience. Tourists come to Florida and their kids go in the ocean and we see them 'red' all over.

They don't realize how quickly the Florida sun can burn childrens' skin, especially in the water. I'm not complaining about the Florida sun. I absolutely love it, but I know enough to respect it.

My mom used to do this when I was a pre-teen and new teenager. Worked like a charm, but I felt a little sorry for the poor, mangled plant.
Keep in mind, this isn't for burns over large areas of skin. Rather, it's for small area burns like when you're cooking and forget to use a hot pad - something my hard-headed hubby does frequently. Wish we still had an aloe vera plant!

I recently burned my right hand when I put a glass lid on top of a glass top burner I didn't realize was on. When I picked it up to put it back on the pot I was stirring I sure realized it had been on! My husband rushed out to the back yard and got a piece of our aloe plant and started slicing in up. I had put my hand under running cool water and was already imagining the call I was going to have to make to let my boss know I wouldn't be able to come to work.

Since it was New Years Day I was sure they would think I had celebrated too much the night before! I only had about 2 hours before I had to be to work. I kept the allow on my hand for about 30 minutes and then began to get ready for work. My sweet hubby cut up some more aloe for me to take to work.

I went to work and was just fine, I figured the next morning I would be blistered and sore, but it was fine, except if felt super dry. Although you could see by the slight discoloration that it had been burned, but it never blistered and has healed nicely. God is so good, I didn't have to miss any work, no blisters or infection! Aloe is easy to recommend to you!
