Plant Labels for your Garden

Have leftover wooden spoons that come with the little ice cream cups or popsicle sticks? Use them as labels in your garden.

How about using plastic forks in the garden to hold seed packets, (in the ground) so you know what's planted there or to hold plant labels.

Use a permanent marker and label the bowl of the spoon with the date on the back. They can even be color coded.

In the south I find that we have too much rain or in watering the wooden spoons rot too fast but if you want a permanent cheap label take any drink can and an old pair of scissors and cut top and bottom off. Then cut the middle into different size strips use an old ink pen and write your info on it and date and it is permanent. You can put it on a wire or stake but I just stick mine into the edge of the pot. For the ones in the ground I put it next to the root. I have some that are 8 years old.
