Pine cones in baskets, tall twigs and grasses in large vases, any evergreen branches laid on tabletop surfaces interspursed with tall candles, neat shaped stones in small glass dishes, stones in glass vases in place of glass balls for flower arrangements, sand with seashells in shallow containers with votive candles pushed in - beautiful, renewable interior decorations.

I dry all kinds of flowers all year long and then make my own popourri...also I collect pinecones,seed pods,tree limbs, ect. In school we collected all kinds of stuff and then hot glued it on a straw wreath..including japanese lantern's which dry very nicley...gail2656...they are a beautiful orange color

Cat tails are great for adding to flower arrangements, especially in the fall. Use hair spray to cover them, to keep them from falling apart. Dead twigs can be sprayed painted with glitter spray paint to add a sparkle to an arrangement. Pine cones have many uses, in baskets, or making wreaths with them.

My, you are certainly creative! I'm currently drying some roses with hairspray. Hang upside down in a sunny place (I used a clothes rack & twisty ties to hang 'em).

What wonderful, nature-full ideas! Just one hint for you, though. If I read your post correctly, you said you are paying $2 to $2.50 for a can of spray paint at the Dollar Store. Wal-Mart has cans of generic spray paint (including black) for about 88 cents a can.

I own a coffee house in a small, historic down town. I wanted a unique holiday theme as my customers are very diverse. I started with a bundle of dead tree branches and tied them together with twine, anchored them with stones in a vase that I retail for a local potter and artist. For the "tree" decore, I unwrapped some holly garland with pinecones and placed the individual stems and pieces in order to highlight the interesting curves of the branches. However, I did have to add net lights to it as the lighting from underneath was not enough. Though the net lights seem to be too much...any suggestions?

That is great! It's just a personal opinion but I like more branch/twigs & less lights. Otherwise it's very cool! What will you be doing in the way of decorating this year!? Post pics!
