Does anyone know how many ounces are in a can of Hershey's chocolate syrup? I want to make the brownie recipe, but I have the larger bottle and need the comparable measurement. Thanks.

To clarify: what I stated is from the Hershey site:
* One 16-oz. can HERSHEY'S Syrup contains 1-1/2 cups syrup.
In this case I believe the 16 oz measurement is by WEIGHT, not by 'liquid volume'.

If you look at the picture of the can below you will see that the 16 oz is NET WT, not fluid oz.

My recipe called for a can of Hersey Syrup. I used two cups and my bars turned out just fine. On and one half cup would not have been enough.
I called the Hershey Company. The correct amount is 1.5 cups, not 2 cups. I am glad your bars turned out fine, but this could cause a problem for other recipes.
How long did you bake them? I use two cups of syrup and my brownies have been in the oven over an hour. The recipe sais 30 minutes. I think they be fine.
The "can" of Hersheys syrup was 12 oz. I know because I made their brownie recipe ALL THE TIME!!! Very disappointed that they discontinued it.

The can indicates there are 12, 2bsp servings in a can. That makes 24 Tbsp which is 1.5 cups.
The content of the can, 16 oz, is the weight of the syrup. The back of the can indicates there are 12, 2 tbsp servings per can. That would make 24 tbsp of syrup in the can. Another conversion makes that 1.5 cups of syrup.
They used to come in 16 oz cans and also smaller ones but the 16 oz was the standard I believe. I haven't see it in cans at the store for a while now. Just the squeeze.
I took a peek online and many brownie recipes called for the 16 oz can. This one is from the Hershey site and calls for 1 1/2 cups syrup which equals a 16 oz can.
Kaelle, 1 cup is 8 ounces, so 1 1/2 is 12 ounces.
Well working in the restaurant industry, I can tell you right now that hershey is wrong. Unless math has changed since I left school 1 1/2 cups is not 16 ounces. 1 1/2 cups IS 12 ounces. 16 ounces is a pint, and 2 cups equal 1 pint.
According to what is printed on my measuring cup, 1 cup equals 8 fluid ounces,1 1/2 cups equal 12 fliud ounces and 2 cups equal 16 fluid ounces.
I believe the ounces on the can would be the weight of the can and the product inside the the can.
You can not buy CANS of hershey syrup anymore
Ina Garten (Barefoot Contessa) calls for a can of Hershey's syrup in her recipes and shows that it's equal to 1 1/3 cups as it's ounces in weight not volume. Volume measurement would have been 1 1/2 cups but that's not equivalent in this case.
