Wrapping Paper for Wall Art

While at a book store, I found some beautiful wrapping paper. The one I chose was several rows of cats which were black with red designs on them, with a dark red background. I have framed this paper within a black frame, and it's hanging in my bedroom now. Very inexpensive and different.

Oh, I've done this too! I thought it a wonderful "I'm bored, mummy" project for my children, now grown. For an added touch we would sometimes place a favorite photo or drawing in the center before framing, thereby turning the wallpaper into a lovely background or border. They've given theirs away as gifts, as have I. They were really well received! I really should start doing this again, as they do turn out quite nice!

An artist friend of mine used fancy gift wrap as a "mat" when she framed antique prints! She contrasted the pattern/color of the mat with the print & the effect was quite contemporary & colorful.
