Making a Recycled Glass Bottle Mosaic Table Top?

I have many cobalt blue glass beer bottles and would like to make a mosaic table top. What is my first step?

Well, 1st you'll need to get some old heavy rags or towels to wrap the bottles in before you break them. Use a large rock (probably better than a hammer - unless you want lots of really small shards). Then put on some good work gloves (the swede or swede & canvas type); before picking up the broken glass pieces.

It wouldn't hurt to have some safety glasses either. You never know if a small shard comes out & gets in the way of your face. Better to be safe than sorry. Get some grout (Michael's Crafts, JoAnne's Fabrics, AC Moore, Walmart or any other type of craft store would have that).

You'll need some epoxy glue if you are planning to glue the glass down on the table, then grout. Otherwise lay the grout all over the table 1st; then place the glass into grout.

Some rags & a bucket of water for cleaning & wiping up when you are finished. And a table. Good luck & have fun! Blue is a nice color. Please post a picture of it when you finish, so we can all see it, ok?
