Malt and Shake Recipes

Does anyone have a secret recipe for a delicious Malt or Shake. I have tried different ways to make them but just don't taste the same as Ice Cream Shops.

Try this Wendy's Frosty. 3/4 cup milk, 1/4 cup chocolate drink powder (Nestle's Quik is best), 4 cups vanilla ice cream. Combine all ingredients in blender. Blend on medium speed until creamy. Stir if neccessary. If too thin, freeze mixture in blender or in cups until thicker. Or, add more ice cream. Makes 2 drinks. Enjoy! This recipe come from Tom Wilbur's book Top Secret Recipes. J.J.

I make chocolate malteds at home but I don't have exact measurements as I just eyeball it depending on how many I am going to serve and how thick I want it. I pour milk into my blender container, add Hershey's Chocolate Syrup and a couple of tablespoons of Ovaltine Chocolate Malted Powder (therefore I can justify this as a healthy snack, not to mention the calcium in the milk and ice cream, and let's not forget the healthy properties of chocolate!) and I mix that real good.

Then I add ice cream (vanilla, chocolate, peppermint....your choice) and blend well, but not too much (my family and I like a thick malted). Pour in cups and serve. If it ends up too thin, put in the freezer for awhile to firm up. Enjoy!

i worked at woolworth 30 yrs. ago. we made the best malts. always use vanilla ice cream as your base in this order

3 scoops van. ice cream
2 tbls. of malt, powder or cream
2 tbls. of syrup, use pure van. in your vanilla malts
Add 1/4 cup of whole milk. DO NOT USE 2% OR LOW-FAT

mix with blender, if you can buy a shake blender it works best. Don't add more to mix as it won't be the same. make only one at a time. enjoy!
