I have adult onset acne and have struggled for several years now. I had read an article about using Witch Hazel and Tea Tree Oil as an astringent so I bought them at Walgreens. I put about 50 drops of Tea Tree Oil in the Witch Hazel Bottle & I give it a good shake before using it to make sure it's mixed up. I've been using it for a few months now and have had pretty good luck with it. It doesn't help with any scarring, but I haven't really had any new breakouts. I'd try the Witch Hazel. (The Witch Hazel was by the band-aids at Walgreens and the Tea Tree Oil was buy the face care items in the beauty department.)

Acne, or any skin issue, is candida related, which is why many Doctors give antibiotics. Candida infests certain areas & then causes secondary infections. The problem is antibiotics kill the infection & then helps the candida to grow more and the cycle continues to get worse. Someone said tea tree oil and witch hazel. Witch hazel is a good astringent and tea tree oil is an antibiotic. It might help the acne, but you will have to use it forever, cause the underlying cause isn't dealt with. I had adult acne for 37 yrs and my skin was really oily. I got pimples and acne when I was young too, it was only after starting to deal with the candida that the pimples and acne disappeared. One thing you can do now, is use a weak solution of white vinegar & water (10% to start), then over time make it stronger, till it's straight vinegar.

This actually kills the candida on your skin before it gets to the infected state. But you need to address the candida, when it gets to the point that it's outside the body then you can bet you've got issues inside. Oh, by the way, the oily skin is gone too. Vinegar is a mild alpha-hydroxy, it does help to peel off dead skin. Candida slowly kills tissue anywhere. Get it under control, pro biotics is a start, and stay away from grains, any grains, in any form. They help the candida to thrive and you have to stop feeding it, that's what sugar & grains do.

There are many effective remedies that will clear up acne, but none of them are home remedies. Go to a doctor who will give you medications that actually work. All three of my sons had acne problems, and real medication from a doctor is the best solution. There are many effective medications that can be purchased without prescription in the drugstore for acne that is not so severe.

Your druggist should be able to help. If home remedies actually worked, there would not be the need for these medications to be developed.

Try using a different cleanser, not soap. It can cause a lot of skin problems, even the most expensive soap can do this.

I have struggled for years with acne. I am 29 yrs old. I still get acne. I have extremely oily skin on my face. I have gone to the doctors and all I have ever been told is you will grow out of it. Or I have been given some man made prescription pill that has more side effects that your home remedies will have. There are all types of prescriptions that you can get from your doctor and there area all types of home remedies that you do not get from your doctor and they all will either work or not work. The point is you just have to keep trying different remedies till you finally find one that works for you.

I have tried almost the entire over the counter acne face washes, moisturizers, toners etc etc. They will work for a short amount of time but my problem is my skin tends to get use to the product I am using. So I have to find something else.

The answer will not always be with or at the doctors or the prescription pills, gels, etc will not always be the right thing for you. Another thing to remember is if you cannot afford what your doctor is trying to prescribe to you ask what the main active ingredients are. You may be able to get those main active ingredients over the counter and much more cheaper. This way you can try them together as they would be in that one particular prescription and see if it will even work for you the cheaper way.

Now I have found that if I blend two different soaps together when washing my face that they have worked very well for me in controlling my acne.

The do not get rid of acne completely but they do help me be able to control it a lot easier than I was doing when trying other methods.

I buy these soaps at Swanson you can look online at there online store. I first wet my face with cold water, then I lather up both types of soaps together and massage it onto my skin gently. I then let the soap dry on my face for about 3 to 4 mins once the soap is completely dry I rinse it off with a soft rag in cold water. I then use a mixture toner of Witch Hazel with a few drops of tea tree oil. Since my skin is extremely oily I do not use a moisturizer it actually makes the oil on my skin worse.

I use this method twice a day. If I am outside working and sweating or getting dirty I rinse off with just cold water and then use the toner. The two soaps are Grandpas Thyox and Green Tea Soap.

I do hope this method will work for someone else as well.
Now I just have to figure out a cheap effective way to get rid of my acne scars on my face. I scare so easily.

Oh and home remedies do work and just because home remedies work does not mean that there would not be a need for doctor prescriptions. Everyone is different so hince the reason there are several different ways for acne care. Holistic, Prescriptions and many more. The more choices in some ways the easier and well harder. So going to your doctor may not be the best for all.

To get rid of acne you have to change your diet to start drink plenty of water and stay out of the sun light also give up fast food and fried foods these can cause skin irritations. Wash the face with a mild soap and use witch hazel with a cotton ball in the mornings when you get up this is the time when your face will tend to be the oiliest.

Also cold processed soap is the best for skin care try the etsy website it is sold there and is cheaper than buying it on ebay. Regular detergent soap that is sold in the grocery store is very strong and harmful to skins delicate tissues.

I know how annoying acne cam be! When I have acne I just wash my face with a rag with warm water on it, I don't use creams or soaps cause it can clog up your pores and stuff. Just wash your face with water and try to avoid wearing alot of makeup. Also try splashing your face with warm water mixed with apple cidar vinegar. Remember, when your going thorugh a skin breakout, give your face a rest and just wash with warm water.
