Keeping an Inventory of Possessions in Case of Disaster

Bronze Post Medal for All Time! 163 Posts

Know what you have before a disaster strikes by putting down on paper everything you have with serial numbers, make, and manufacturer. You can also take pictures of your items so they can be referred to if something should happen. Be sure to keep them safe in a steel safe box.

When we buy appliances we send in the registration forms and I always keep a record for myself. If you get in the habit of doing this, keeping up with what you own becomes a breeze for you and the insurance company.

I never send in the registration card. Why would the manufacturer need all your personal information? I feel uncomfortable about giving out information in which I feel that the company may use for their own benefit. I do make a list of model numbers, etc. and take pictures in case of a loss.
