Coffee Filter For Missing Lid

Bronze Post Medal for All Time! 228 Posts

The silicon cap ended up missing but I'm not going to let that stop me. A rubberband and a coffee filter later and I was enjoying my treat!

I would think the coffee filter is too porous. It allows air into the container. I suggest using a piece of foil, maybe even doubled, with the rubber band.

A sandwich bag and rubberband would work better. Coffee filters are not able to keep air out of the jar. Whatever is in the jar will be stale and nasty and will have to be thrown away.

I like the idea for many things and I have done this for a long time. I also use canning ring and filter or plastic or both together to help with the rip that can happen from use.

Coffee filters are great to use between every good or rarely used piece of china or tea cups & saucers, etc. It keeps the dust off and prevents scratches.
