Well, the ants come from outside and they may have built a nest in your wall cavities so you could hire a exterminator to spray the foundation on the outside. They use a product that the ants carry back to the nest to feed on and die. In my state we have only two types of ants. The small red ants and the black carpenter ants. I hire an exterminator every three years or so to rid the ants. They disappear in about 2 days.

The ones I want to kill right away, I use a little spray bottle filled with amber Listerine or the generic amber Listerine. You have to squirt them with it. I am trying to get rid of them too. It is safer to use then spray for bugs.

If you can find where they are coming in from, sprinkle cinnamon there. They do not like cinnamon at all. I got rid of the roaches using Advion which you can buy at:

Now I will also go to that site to see what they say about ants.

Hands down, the best way to get rid of ants is by using Terro. You can get it in the pest-control aisle of places like Wal-Mart. It comes in a bottle, and the box includes perforated squares of cardboard that you use for putting the Terro out as bait for the ants. Just put a dollop of the thick liquid (a little smaller than a dime) on the cardboard, and put the Terro out where the ants are.

Ants - and lots of them - will be attracted to it, but don't be dissuaded. That's the Terro doing its job. The ants feed on it, and take it with them to share with others in the colony. In a day or two, it wipes them all out. No toxic sprays, no mess!

We've had ants in our bathroom, so I'm not surprised to hear that you've had this problem, too. But one application of Terro, and they've never come back!

I read on a different tip thread here on ThriftyTips that vinegar and water will also run the ants right out of the house.

Oh, I just discovered Terro, too. Wow, I had ants crawling in like an interstate. Busy, like I never saw before. Also the sugar ants were a problem. I put a drop of this down on that spot where my cereals are stored and there seemed to be millions of them.

I couldn't wait for them to go back to their nest so I sprayed Hot Shot Kitchen bug spray on them all. Went up and down the hallway spraying them and haven't seen anymore.

Bug free! Try this if you want and I'm sure you'll feel happy too.

I totally agree with Terro it's just amazing stuff and you won't see them again. Give it a try you won't be sorry and i have also used that Hot Shot kitchen spray stuff and that works good on first spray but it stinks but honestly Terro is your best bet.

They were driving me crazy and my daughter told me to put a line of talcom powder across where they were coming in. It worked. They will not cross it. Also non toxic for kids and pets.

I also spray mouthwash on them and also at the point where they are coming into the home. I don't clean up the area right next to their entry point for a couple of days. 90% of the time that works and they don't try coming back until the following year when a new colony moves into the area - LOL.

If that doesn't work then buy a box of the Combat Disks for ants. "Be sure it's the box that says 100% guaranteed!" (you can find that one at almost all hardware stores) Place them in the needed areas but make sure children and pets can not get ahold of them. What happens is the poison in the baits gets taken back to the ant colony, it is fed to the queen and hence that entire colony dies.

PS - I just remembered that last year I happened to be out of mouthwash at the time and used a high alcohol content body perfume spray instead. That worked like a charm and smelled good too ;-)

Average Ant killing spray that you can buy at almost any store should help. If it's really serious, you should get an exterminator.

Terro is wonderful but sticky! Yuck. So, I take regular drinking straws and cut them in half. Then put in a few drops of Terro and lay against the back of counter tops or in the path of the ants.

Party time~! Eat and die! Hope this works for you too.

When I first moved in I had alot of ants I sprinkled cinnamon in my pantry. I also sprinkled salt and borax all around the house where they might be coming in. I also sprinkled salt on the counters.I did this two years in a row and now I have no ants. Hope this helps.

I spray windex Around my windows seals and around my baseboards and they die rill fast and you will get ride of them. And if they come back just spray some more windex. but if you have pets i wood not do this because if they lick it they can get rill sick.
