Gold Tip Medal for All Time! 314 Tips

I have worked for ThriftyFun since October 2007. I moderate the requests that TF users submit. I learn new things everyday from everyone's questions and answers. I love my job and am so privileged to work with such wonderful friends and family!

I am the mother of three fabulous kids! I work hard to teach them to care about the environment and their community. They are very caring and love to make things for people. We are lucky to share our house with 6 wonderful rescued pets...3 dogs (Paige, Gidget, and Nina) and 3 cats (Oolong, Cupcake and Zero).

I have a degree in Graphic Design, but enjoy many other forms of art too! For me, art can brighten any room so I love to use my art to liven up our house!

I was not raised in a frugal household, however I am finding that being more frugal with my own family is helping me achieve some of the future plans I have for my children.

One of my newest frugal ideas has been in response to our eating out too much. I have decided to replace the "eating out for fun" idea with a weekly special meal selected by one of my kids from a cookbook. When it's their turn to choose a meal they will also get to help prepare it. While saving some money it will also give us a chance spend time together and try new things!

I love the rain and I wait in joyful anticipation for Honeycrisp apple season. I hate wearing shoes and I tend to wear flip flops in inappropriate weather!

Worm Play Mat - play mat with purple Play-Doh worm

Worm Play MatHere is a fun play mat that I created. Kids can make worms for it out of Play-Doh, pipe cleaners, or even paper. If you laminate it they can also draw worms and tunnels onto the mat with a dry erase marker. Enjoy!

Remaking 'The Scream''- montage of the painting and the recreation

Remaking 'The Scream''One of the projects assigned in my daughter's art class was to recreate a famous painting with items found at home. My son loves the painting "The Scream" by Edvard Munch and volunteered to help her in recreating it. They used clothing, blankets, and strips of cardboard to create the background. My son posed as the figure in the painting. I think it turned out pretty amazing!

Blue and Brown Eggs, Oh My! - plate with 7 eggs, some blue, some dark brown and two light brown

Blue and Brown Eggs, Oh My!After losing all of our chickens last year, we hand raised 5 new girls last spring. They finally started laying eggs and by the time we realized it there was quite a collection hidden around the coop. After washing them up I had to take a moment to appreciate the wide range of colors and speckles on them. I saved many of these and plan to blow them out and save them.
