Rhododendrons In SpringThis little rhododendron is the first to bloom in my garden every spring. I've planted about twenty rhodies in my garden, and they bloom from February though June. I selected the varieties I have, after studying two books with information on rhododendrons.

 

Garden: Bridal Wreath And Lilac (West Virginia) I just love it when this bush blooms. It gets tiny white flowers all over it. It is so pretty and it is one of the first to bloom. I just love spring and all its pretty flowers. I was told it is called Bridal Wreath.

 

Garden: Lawnmower In DitchThis was taken of lawnmower driven in the ditch by grandson (Craig). Grandpa came and looked over situation. My grandson had to remove it from the ditch. Summer brings such fun!

 

Reuse Plastic Bottles For SeedlingsI reuse plastic water bottles in Pixiepods Garden here in Tenerife as cloches for new plants. It can be windy here from time to time and it just helps them to settle in. The photo is of some herbs that I planted out in January.

 

Garden: FreesiaFeb.24 and we have our first Freesia in bloom. The Clivia is right behind and we have a few Iris blooming also. The Lady Banksia is a shower of pale yellow over the Path Garden Arch

Plant Sprouted GarlicDon't throw away garlic just because it is starting to sprout. Plant it in a pot for your kitchen window! I had a bulb that got forgotten about and several of the cloves were dried out, while some others were questionable.

Cleaning The Garden ShedBoy, when my husband cleans the shed, he makes sure he doesn't miss a spot! What he is really doing is removing all the leaves because we were putting on a metal roof. He found he could get the leaves off faster with a broom than picking them up by hand.

Garden: Under the Trumpets In this picture the trumpets are up to 7 ft tall here in Port St Lucie. When I came back from Costa Rica I brought with me some stalks, and the reason I called this picture under trumpets is because of the fact that when they were in full bloom I took the picture from underneath.

Rock GardenThis was started on a slope my husband said would never work! But I carried on and the result has been my favorite place in my yard! I am always changing and adding on as well. it is a constant canvas of art work to me.

 

Garden: Date Palms (Iraq)With great pleasure, I present these photos. They show a side in my garden. The main and loveliest trees to me are those two date palms. They are of the same kind of fruit. It is the best kind in Iraq and in Basrah, where I live. We call it berhi.

Unusual FlowerThis flower was so different from any other flower I've seen. It's on the small side, and I thought it was beautiful. No idea what it's called, though!

 

Garden: Eavesdropping BirdOut in the garden, there are good and bad guys constantly plotting and planning on how to rid the garden of vermin. The birds occasionally drop by to listen in and see if they can help.

 

Garden: English DaisiesThis is the first year I have discovered the English Daisies. They are so small, dainty and petite, just adorable. They did take me a while to learn how to care for them. They are so cute and also come in pinks and reds. I love these little flowers!

 

Garden: BaptisiaBaptisia, or False Indigo, contributes beautiful spring color. It is a shrubby perennial that needs to be cut back in fall or early spring. The seed pods turn solid black and rattle in the south wind. It is so very blue - I wish it could bloom all summer!

 

Garden: Perennials We have a perennial garden running the full width of our lot (a narrow city lot) from the house out to the sidewalk. It has gathered a lot of attention and some copycatting!

 

Garden: First Peas Of The SeasonThis is our first little batch of pink-eye-purple-hull (southern) peas of the season. They are supposed to be a brilliant dark purple color, but I couldn't resist picking these just a little before they changed color.

Garden: Endless Summer HydrangeaThis is the most beautiful my hydrangea has ever bloomed. Two seasons we had late frost and it didn't bloom. It makes me smile!

Garden: Seattle CourtyardTwo weekends ago I let Greyhound do the driving from here in Richland to spend a long weekend with my best friend, Cindy. She now lives in West Seattle and this is the beautiful courtyard view from her apartment on a typical lovely drizzly Seattle Sunday morning.

 

Garden: Blue IrisWhen I married my husband and moved here, his yard was a jungle of plants. Not being a gardener, my first inclination was to bulldoze the entire thing. Better judgment won out.
