RE: Grease Stain on Suede
I would first set the stained bottom on a thick layer of cornstarch. After awhile pick it up and brush off the cornstarch with a stiff little brush perhaps a dry toothbrush. Do this numerous times giving the cornstarch ample opportunity to absorb the grease. ... View related article.

RE: Finding Teal Blue Mason Jars
I see them in every antique shop, antique mall, junk store and auctions (particularly in rural areas). Usually $1 each where I live. ... View related article.

RE: Use Chili Sauce as a Copper Cleanser
Just splash some vinegar on the copper then quickly sprinkle on some salt and give it a quick rub. This is the quickest, cheapest way I've found to keep my copper bright! ... View related article.

RE: Sewing Patterns Swap Groups
I see that Des Moines has a Hobby Lobby store. They always run their ad in the Sunday newspaper. I noticed today that this week all of their McCalls patterns are 99 cents each. In a few weeks they will do the same with their Simplicity patterns. Just plan ahead and buy your patterns when they are on sale. Just remember that Hobby Lobby is not open on Sunday. Happy Sewing! ... View related article.

RE: Organizing Photos Using A Shoe Organizer
Thank you, thank you for the best idea I have seen in years. I have boxes and boxes of photos that need to be sorted! I dreaded starting it because I have so little space to spread them out. Now I can start on them and it won't be a problem because they won't be lying all over the place in little stacks. I already have 3 of the clear plastic shoe bags. I have space to hang them on the wall and doors. I am so excited to finally have a plan that will work!

My adult kids may miss the boxes of photos. It's their fault they are in such a scrambled mess. They love to spend holidays going through the boxes and reminiscing, so there are photos from 40 years ago and 6 months ago mixed together in the same boxes! Oh how I dreaded sorting them so I could finally put them in photo albums. Now it seems like a project that I can complete, over time, without any extreme mess to deal with while I work on the lengthy project.

CaroleeRose, if you were near I would definitely give you a big hug! Thank You so much for sharing your great idea! ... View related article.

RE: Inexpensive or Free Building Materials
Habitat for Humanity has a location in Orlando, as they do in many, many cities. They have a "store" called the "ReStore". It is located at this address:
2105 N. Orange Blossom Trail, Orlando, FL 32804
phone number 407-426-7192

They will probably have what you need. Although they do not "give it away" for free. The prices are amazingly low. The items they have for sale have been donated by businesses and individuals. Some items are new, some are good used recyclable items. The income that is generated by these sales helps pay for materials to build the next "Habitat House". It is a wonderful program...a "Hand UP" not a "Hand Out"!

Please "Google" Habitat for Humanity and read about all the good things they have done and continue to do. My husband and I volunteer with "Habitat" here in our community and find it extremely rewarding. I would encourage others to do the same.
I hope you find what you need. Call and talk to the folks in the office. Maybe they can work with you. Best of Luck ... View related article.

RE: Removing Baby Formula Stains
My BABY is now 36 years old. I was getting out old formula stains in baby clothes I bought for him at garage sales way back then! You need BIZ ( it's an "enzyme" cleaner, not a detergent!) and some non chlorine bleach (like Clorox II). I would take my plastic bucket (3 gal. ?) and dump in about 1/2 cup of BIZ and 1/2 cup dry, non chlorine bleach. Pour in about 1 gallon of the hottest water you have and stir the granules around until they have dissolved. Then add cold water until the bucket is about 2/3rds full. Then submerge the stained clothes in the water. I left some in the mixture for 5 days before all the stains came out, but they all DID come out stain free. I would check them every day and stir them around. I do think the new "Oxy-Clean" products that we have available today would probably be helpful too.
I still use a BIZ & Clorox II "soak" in my washer about every two months just to keep my pastel and white tee-shirts very bright and clean. ... View related article.

RE: Moving a Stove
Remember that you will have either a gas line or an electrical cable attached to the rear of your stove. Don't tug too hard and damage either of them. If you use a carpet scrap or rug. Turn it upside down. The canvas or backing side won't slide very well, if at all. Happy Cleaning! ... View related article.
