Save Energy and Money When Doing Laundry
When washing, to save on electric and detergent, use 1/2 cold water and let clothes soak (reduce detergent and add baking soda). Do something else while they soak. They will come out just as clean.
I cook from scratch, which is a big money saver. I rarely buy convenience foods. Once in a while I will find a tremendous deal on something, only then do I buy it.
Use as little of a product as possible. Try starting out using half of what you would normally use and then go from there. Also, buy generic and store brand products.
Keeping Soap Dry
I keep bath soap in an old nylon stocking in the bath. I can then use the soap just fine and hang it up after use for drying so it doesn't get mushy.
Uses for Baking Soda
Put baking soda in your kitchen sink, then add vinegar, after it stops fizzing it smells better. Also use baking soda to brush your teeth and under your arms for odor control.
Stretch Your Taco Meat
Stretch your taco meat by mixing it 50% with potatoes chopped into tiny pieces.
Spots on Carpet
Here's hint/tip on a homemade all-purpose carpet cleaning solution. Fill a spray bottle with white vinegar and water (half & half). Spray then lay down paper towels on the spot. It will help lift a lot of spills.
