Reusing Spaghetti Sauce Jars
When you empty out a spaghetti jar, clean it thoroughly and save it. Next time you have left over grease from frying meat, you can funnel it into the clean jar and put the lid on. Store the jar under the sink until it is full, then just close lid TIGHTLY and toss in the trash. By Sandi
Peanut Butter Cookie Tip
When making peanut butter cookies, don't use the fork to make the criss cross design on top. Instead, get out your potato masher, dip in a little sugar or water (to avoid sticking) and press the tops of the dough. You have instant criss crosses. By Sandi
Getting Rid of Tough Smells in Clothing
To get tough smells out of clothing, use a touch of Pine Sol in the normal wash cycle along with your regular washing detergent. The Pine Sol smell won't be there (unless you use too much) and the bad odor will be gone as well.
Other Uses for the Foodsaver
The Foodsaver is not just for food. I use it to vacuum pack face cloths, etc. and for travel. No more bottles spilling out onto your clothes. By Sandy
Recycling School Papers
I recycle my children's school papers. I don't have room for them all. However, if I find a recipe or project idea on the Internet that I want to print out, I use those school papers. I get to keep them and not have them take up unnecessary space.
I love to find recipes and projects on the Internet. However, I like easy! Many times I want to print something out that is very short and does not take up a whole sheet. What I do is copy and paste into Word and keep adding to it until I have a whole page and then print the whole thing out. It saves paper and I don't have so much to keep up with! By Jacqui
Cream of Whatever
I am 46, work full time and have just returned to college, so time is a squeeze for me. Here is a quick, tasty soup I came up with.
Gift Box Idea
Instead of purchasing shirt boxes for the holidays, use cereal boxes instead. They are just the right size to slide a shirt, pants, robe or anything else like that into. You can decorate the box with wrapping paper so that the cereal logos aren't seen. By Sandi
This is a time saving tip and a frustration eliminator.
Cupboard Organizing Tip
Upon cleaning out my cupboard this last time, I found that placing everything into plastic ziplock bags or container made everything easier to get to and to organize.
Those CD Cases
When you get all of those annoying "free internet discs" in the mail, always keep the holder that the disc came in.
When going camping or on a trip, pack toothpaste, shampoo, cologne and anything else that might leak in a ziplock baggie. This way, if there is a spill, your entire luggage won't be messed up. By Sandi
Freezing Dry Goods
I put all my new packages of flour and macaroni into the freezer or refrigerator and never worry about it going bad or buggy. All is fresh when I need it. By ginny
Picking Up Broken Glass
To pick up tiny pieces of broken glass, take some tape and roll it into a ball with the sticky side out and dab up the glass and toss away. By Lazetta
For you smokers out there here's a little tip. Put your carton, cigarette, or cigar pack in the freezer. It prevents them from becoming stale and tasting like garbage, causing you to buy new ones. I smoke very little and have left packs in there for months that tasted like fresh when I smoked them. Hope this helps you. By Suzanne S.
Sewing Cards for Kids
Make the kids some sewing cards to occupy them for a little while during a road trip.
