Quick Fresh MeatballsBusy day? You want something good and hearty for dinner, but it is getting late? Let me share how you can make a spaghetti and meatball dinner in under a half hour. You will be happily sitting down and eating this!
Crockpot Kalua PorkThis is the easiest recipe! There are only three ingredients, practically no prep and it tastes just like you are in Hawaii. I made it for a potluck with a friend who has very severe allergies. Everyone loved it.
Cooking Spaghetti Squash and Saving SeedsSpaghetti squash is such a nutritious and low calorie substitute for pasta. Many recipes call for baking. I have found that after cutting the squash lengthwise, scooping out the seeds, and microwaving cut side down for about 10 minutes (depending on the size), it is perfectly done.
The added bonus is that the seeds can be saved for planting. I simply wash the seeds and leave them out for a few days to dry, then store in a paper envelope.
Shinook (Jack Russell)I got Shinook from a coworker where I'm a dog groomer at a veterinary animal hospital. Shinook loves to swim, play fetch, hunt rodents, go fishing in the boat with us, he walks along when I'm horse back riding, and play with his human daddy.
Recycled Christmas Wrapping Paper WreathThis kids' project uses a paper plate, Christmas wrapping paper, decorations from Christmas cards, and Christmas ribbon. You can do this with fabric, but I wanted to use up some old wrapping paper that was taking up space in my craft supply area.
Salmonella Concerns with Backyard ChickensMany people have started keeping chickens and other fowl at home. They are a great source of fresh eggs, don't take much special care, and can be quite funny and charming. However, you should be careful when you or your children are handling them. Most chickens naturally carry salmonella.
Recycle Old Day Planners into Scratch-PadsAround our house, we use Day-Planners and several different calendars simultaneously, which ultimately leaves us with a lot of paper that needs recycling. We've discovered that one way to Reduce/Reuse/Recycle these particular forms of waste paper is to turn them into new scratch-pads for notes, grocery lists, etc. It's easy and only takes a minute! Simply cut long strips from your old planner or calendar, trim to neaten, staple on one end and you're done. Stacks and stacks of free note-pads. Enjoy!
