I learned that plastic shopping bags don't break down in dumps, so since this is terrible for our earth, I have tried to use them for many things.

Garden ChandelierI made this candle chandelier from an generic looking gold light fixture that I bought on craigslist for five dollars. I cut the electrical wiring out of the top and just left the chain. Then I painted the chandelier a dark brown with a can of Rustoleum spray paint.

Recycled bread crumb can bank decorated with photos
Memory BankI lost my dad awhile back. I like to have reminders of him throughout our home. I made this memory bank, I used a bread crumb can. I hot glued the picture to the can, on the other side is a picture of me and him.

Anchor Tea Bags With a ClothespinWhile making tea, the "end papers" kept getting to close to the burner. So I used a clothespin to anchor them in place. Afterward, I opened the tea bags and put them in with the coffee grounds to put on the roses and in the garden.

Recovering Outdoor CushionsMy outdoor chair cushions were sunfaded and stained but other than that were very usable. I made removable, washable slip covers for them from matching curtain fabric and a sofa throw that had been tucked in a cupboard for years and almost forgotten.

Wildlife: Williamson's SapsuckerThis is a Williamson's Sapsucker, male. This bird was flying around our apartment complex's large courtyard during the snowy March this year. Isn't he handsome?

"Vintage" CupboardI purchased an unfinished cupboard and primed it. Next I painted it gold and then a coat of red. I made it look old by sanding areas where it might have been worn. I added 3 pictures from and old calendar with decoupage glue and varnished over to protect it.

Backyard Vegetable GardenWe have a small 25x25 foot garden space that is very productive. What we freeze or can keeps us in fresh, healthy meals for a year. We grow carrots, beets, radishes and mixed lettuce, green and yellow beans, green pepper, over 60 broccoli plants, and some assorted herbs.

End Cap for Crochet HookI am moving soon, and taking a lot of craft supplies with me. I wanted all my hooks in this handy clear eyeglass case and this one wouldn't fit. I hacksawed it down to the right size, but didn't want my hook to snag on anything.

Transplanted Garden and PondWe had a garden beside the kids playground that had to be moved because the wild blackberries were killing the plants. My 10 year old son came up with this plan. We worked hard for 5 days digging the pond and transplanting the garden.
