My name is helen. I'm 62 years old and retired five years ago due to ill health.
I enjoy cooking with our own organic vegetables. My husband is the gardener in the family & I supervise (if I'm quick enough). We are ex-farmers and it's been a gradual & on-going quest for me to convince the family that chemical fertilisers and pesticides are BAD, usually unnecessary, not good for the health of the garden or us -- and that building up the soil organically using compost and worms is much more productive, and CHEAPER! I'm winning!!
I am also a voracious reader - historical novels & non-fiction, thrillers, contemporary novels, fictional crime etc. plus back to basics magazines (Mother Earth News is my favourite), gardening and organic gardening.
I also enjoy sewing & crewel embroidery when I get the chance - which isn't often these days.
