Cooking Fish?Whenever I cook fish, either baking it or panfrying, there is a milky residue that seeps from the fish. The fish is done, but the residue is unappetizing looking. What causes it and how can I cook the fish to avoid it?
Steamed Carrot Pudding Too Dry?I made a carrot pudding using my mother's recipe, but it came out too dry. It is a traditional recipe containing steamed carrot, potato, suet, flour, raisins and spices. Did I steam it too long, not enough? Cover it right? (waxed paper, then cloth).
Reinforcing Leather Gloves?Does anyone have any ideas for making leather gloves last longer? I have two pairs, one for gardening and one for working in the barn. The first things that go are the tips of the fingers on my right hand. Since I always buy gloves that fit snug (I hate loose gloves) there is no room for me to just sew across the top of the fingers. Is there a way I could reinforce the tops of the fingers before I start using the gloves? Thanks in advance for any advice.
Recliner Fix?I have a vinyl-like covered recliner that has developed some inch long slits on the seat. Is there a way to fix the slits? or is there a pattern or instructions somewhere to make a slipcover for the chair to hide them? cheapskate7998
Cleaning Hair Off Velcro Hair Rollers?I use those velcro hair rollers, but after some usage, loose hair becomes stuck to the rollers and then they don't work very well. Does anybody have an easy way of taking the hair off the rollers? Picking it off by hand is very time consuming!
Substitute for Candied Fruit Peel in Recipe?I am going to make green tomato mincemeat this year as I do most years, however the recipe calls for chopped candied fruit peel which I absolutely detest. In previous years I have just left it out.
