This was a fun craft, but I learned a valuable lesson. Never load the photos and then delete them before they are loaded. I lost half the photos I needed, but found a tiny jar to "finish out the process". It's been fun and I hope you like them!

Total Time: 2 hours

Yield: 5

  • 6 sided jelly jars
  • 1 oz paint: Terra Cotta
  • 1 oz paint: Moss green
  • 2 paint brushes
  • 1/2 cup water for clean up
  • 12 yd green yarn
  • size I hook
  • scissors
  • embellishments
  • hot glue gun and sticks
  • 4 corks

  1. The first thing to do is to find the right shape of jar. I like the 6 sided jelly jar. I had one large one, and three little ones. After they were all done, I actually found a tiny tiger balm jar and added it to the "family". It's the baby! With the terra cotta paint, it took about 4 coats as this was not glass paint. Each one has to be dry or it will smear. This is the part of the photos I lost, so you can just close your eyes and imagine me painting. There, that was easy!

  3. I glued some corks to the underside of the lids to make them easier to paint. Then, on with the green!
  4. While everything was drying, I crocheted the stems. Chain 2, and make a single crochet in the first chain. Turn, make a single crochet in the first stitch and the next two. Continue this till you have 8 single crochets. Break off the work the tails into the center, and trim. Put a line of hot glue on the edge, then roll it like a little cone. When you glue the stems, lean them a bit as they are drying. Then, glue them to the center of the lids.

  6. After gluing on the stem I added fall colored embellishments.
  7. I found the little tiger balm one and did the same to it. It's so tiny it just had to be added to the family!!
