Sorry ya'll. Cute idea, but apparently the canning jars do pose a problem. I guess you could use oven-safe ramekins instead of jars. April ... View related article. |

| RE: Dog with Itchy Skin |
Most vets use a combo of hydrocortisone and steroid shots to treat dogs with dry and itchy skin. A natural and far less expensive alternative is to mix about a tbsp. of Omega-3 fish oil into the dog's food once a day. (Fish Oil capsules can be purchased at Walmart for around $5 - $6. Use a large safety-pin to puncture the capsule and squeeze oil into measure spoon. Use enough capsules to equal one tbsp.) It's probably one of the most beneficial things you can do because it treats the problem from the inside out and boosts immunity.
Another quick fix is a warm bath with oatmeal. Take 1-2 cups of plain oatmeal and place them in blender. Blend until you have a fine powder. Sprinkle into a lukewarm bath, making sure no clumps form and the oatmeal is evenly dissolved. Let your dog sit in the water for 10-15 minutes. Scoop the water up and massage into dogs fur so that the oatmeal water can reach and coat the skin. Obviously you can adjust the water/oatmeal ratio depending on dog's size.

| RE: Hydrogen Peroxide For Ear Wax |
Saturate a q-tip with the hydrogen peroxide and drop a few drops down into the ear. Lean head to side and hold it there while you do this. After a few seconds, tilt your head the other way and let the peroxide flow out of your ear onto a paper towel. You can then use a q-tip to remove any loose wax.
Another way is to use warm baby oil. Same process...a few drops in the ear for a few seconds, then let the ear drain onto a cloth. Fresh water can then be dropped into the ear and drained to remove anything loose.
The oil feels much better than the cold and fizzy peroxide and the warmth of the oil actually melts a good deal of the wax. . ... View related article. |

| RE: Cats Using Flower Garden as a Litter Box |
Well, if your cat is as determined as the stray cats that get into my yard, then you've got your hands full! This sounds completely nuts, but it actually works. Spread coffee grounds, citrus peels (lemon, lime, orange) or citrus oils all over the area you want "protected". Cats hate garlic too, so spreading a few bulbs around will help keep them at bay too.

| RE: Fleas In Beds |
Cricket is right. One flea equals 500. I've had this problem myself and went through tons of over-the-counter household flea sprays. But if you don't get the eggs, then the fleas will just keep coming and coming. I used the Bio Spot Fogger. It actually kills fleas and eggs for 7 full months...and one bottle covers 6,000 square feet.
You're better off going to 1-800-Pet-Meds to purchase these types of sprays. Your Vet will charge you an arm and leg. Here's a link for the Bio Spot. http://www.1800petmeds.com/Bio+Spot+Fogger-prod11100.html Good luck! ... View related article. |

I'm not sure how to check your tubing, but the "black stuff" you mentioned could be from a dirty filter. Any fridge with an ice maker usually has some type of filter that needs to be periodically changed.
