Max (Cocker Spaniel)
contest winner icon
Maxis a 2 year old Cocker Spaniel. Our little darling doggie was found wandering in a subdivision, had on a rabies tag, and they could not locate the people who had it. We think they simply moved away and left him. He was scared silly, dirty, matted, but with a few weeks of loving he has turned into "The Perfect Pet"! Max's only pastime we have found so far is playing with squeaky toys. He will grab one and come to us, but if we try to get it to throw for him, he runs like a mad dog, squeaking away on that toy. We took Max camping a few weeks ago, and he is a pro at stopping at every person for petting, already. He doesn't bark at people passing by. He is really good with out other dogs. His one vice is that he is death on chipmunks. He proudly trotted to the door with one hanging limply in his mouth, the other day. Oh, boy.

Callie (Calico)
Callie is 5 years old and a calico. We got Callie as a kitten several years ago. She is the mother of 4 beautiful kitties. We kept 2 and gave 2 to other family members. We had her fixed so she won't have any more kittens.

Callie loves the outdoors. She loves to climb on things and she won't stay off the railing on our deck. It used to make me nervous about her falling, but now I realize she has great balance. She is so much fun to watch!

Fishface (Cat)
A stray cat started eating the bread and popcorn that I threw out on my patio for the birds. I bought some cat food and it came every day. Then it became pregnant. One day went off and had its kittens. Now the kittens are coming to be fed.

This is one of them, which I named "Fishface" because its eyes reminded me of dead fish, It really is so ugly that it is beautiful!

Cannoli (Bichon Frise)
Cannoli is a 4 month old Bichon Frise. My dad surprised us with him. He said he was going to be late at work because a part from his car went bad. He was actually going to get the puppy that we fell in love with, but we had left the breeder's house puppyless. Cannoli loves to antagonize our other dog Jake. In the picture, he obviously had no idea where we were taking him until he was sliding down the slide. :) (No pets hurt during the taking of this picture.)

Cody (Collie Mix)
Cody is a 2 year old Collie mix. We got Cody 1 year ago from a rescue in New Jersey. He picked us out as we checked out all the dogs. He kept running back and forth in the cage to get to us each time we would round the bend again to check them all out. It was "love at first sight" for both of us. He loves playing with his dog friends where we live, going to restaurants (ones where they allow dogs), and he loves to play with his Kong when stuffed with peanut butter. Cody is training to be a service dog for me, as I am wheelchair bound and would like to be able to take him everywhere that I go.

Shorty (Dorkie) and Bella (Shepherd Mix)
Shorty (Dorkie - Dachshund/Yorkie mix) and Bella (Shepherd mix) are both about 4 years old. They are both rescue dogs. Even though there is 40 lbs. difference in their size, Shorty and Bella are best buds. They play and wrestle all day, being careful to never hurt one another. When they finally get tired, they flop together on the couch. Bella, who's bigger, likes to use Shorty as a pillow, but he doesn't mind! Shorty has learned to say, "I love you," but what he really means is, "I love dog cookies"!

Sir Hucksley and His Hens
I got Sir Hucksley about 2 months ago. He is a Silkie/Frizzle rooster. The lady I got him from called him a Sizzle which describes his personality quite well. He has an aristocratic walk which is how he got his regal name. He is an absolute joy and has provided many entertaining moments for us.
