A polar bear at the zoo.
Polar Bears (Pittsburgh Zoo)In May, the kids, my aunt and I went to the Pittsburgh Zoo. The Polar Bear wouldn't go in the water and just kept pacing back and forth. I managed to get a good shot of him looking at us.

Scenery: Double Recycling (FL)We saw this great old horse carrier (I think that is what it is) in Cedar Key, Florida. It's been given a new life for recycling newspaper. Each window holds a different item. Now that is what I call double recycling.

Scenery: Sunset on a Beach (Texas - 1940's)This photo was found in the collection of a great-aunt. It is a photograph taken by her son of her two grandsons, who died in a polio epidemic in 1948. This is probably on a Texas beach, although I am not sure of the location.

Wildlife: VultureI was standing at my rear door when I saw this turkey vulture swoop in, alighting himself on a branch. I grabbed my camera, attached the telephoto lens and stepped outside, taking as many as I could before he flew away.

Wildlife: GrasshopperI was just finishing my lunch when I saw this big grasshopper on a wooden chair next to my fridge. I guess he didn't like it outside, it was quiet hot for our country Slovenia, 37 degrees.

Aberdene Angus Cattle (Bodmin Moor, UK)These are Aberdene Angus Cows. You normally find them in Scotland. That's why they have such thick coats. This was taken on Bodmin Moor, where I drive through to get to the cottage in Polperro. All the animals are free to wander all over the moors.

Garden: Wildflowers And RosesI just cut these wildflowers and roses this morning, Friday, July 23, 2010. They are from my miniature rose garden in my front yard. The wildflowers are from my hummingbird garden in our back yard. I just cannot seem to stop buying flowers.

Wildlife: Twin FawnsMy daughter yelled "Mom, there's a deer in the yard!" So I look and there are twins there. Of course they are not looking at me, but they are still so cute!

Garden: Under the Trumpets In this picture the trumpets are up to 7 ft tall here in Port St Lucie. When I came back from Costa Rica I brought with me some stalks, and the reason I called this picture under trumpets is because of the fact that when they were in full bloom I took the picture from underneath.

Travel: Polperro, Cornwall (UK)Polperro is a fishing village. We have a 400 year old fisherman's cottage which we are restoring. All the cottages are built out of the cliff face. It is very popular and has tourists from all over the world coming to take pictures of it

Travel: USS Arizona War Memorial (Pearl Harbor, Hawaii)We had a time out in the car. We came to see the monument at the USS Arizona in Pearl Harbor while on a layover in Hawaii. Our kids were insistent on begging for ice cream and having tantrums, so we sat in the car for a few moments.
