This fawn is a few days old. It was born in our yard, here it is resting under a tree near our house. The Mom is nowhere to be seen. It was found by my wife while picking garlic mustard in our yard.

A queen wasp on her nest.
Queen WaspPaper wasps try to build a hive on my patio every year. Here I have some pictures of the queen building the hive; you can even see first egg! She was actually friendly and never tried to attack me.

Climbing Hydrangea
Garden: Climbing HydrangeaThis is a climbing Hydrangea. They take forever to bloom but my patience has been rewarded this year. Next year it will probably have more blooms yet. They are know to take up to 7 years to bloom. Mine is 6 years old and grows up a hickory tree.

No Name Rose
Garden: Unknown RoseThis is the only rose on this bush right now. It is always fun to find a bargain at the $.99 store, even if they have taken the name tags off. This is not a miniature rose bush, but it is smaller than most.

The dirty soles of four girls feet, all in a row.
Photo: Dirty FeetWe'd been remodeling the house, trying to add on another bedroom. The original house is well over 120 years old, so there's lots of old, fine creosote like dust and dirt. Apparently Hubby didn't clean the floor very well, because the girls' feet were no longer clean.

Red Tailed HawkThis guy is also a frequent visitor. He helps keep the the squirrel population under control, and also goes after the crows. Crows eat the eggs of other birds.

Scenery: Pigmy GoatsMy baby Pygmy goats are wonderful additions to the family farm. They eat all the brush, weeds and poison ivy plants. They give milk, soap, cheese, and butter; all with a funny attitude.

Wildlife: Orange ButterflyA butterfly befriended my son. I think it would have hung out on him all day, if we'd stayed outside. I was hoping to catch a picture of it with its wings spread open. So I kept trying to get it to move, until I finally captured it with its wings open!

Garden: CamelliaThis is one of my favorite varieties of camellia. It was an inexpensive plant from the Home Depot. The garden has probably 5-6 shrubs that have all grown tall enough to see over the fence from the walkway.

A yellow iris bloom.
Garden: Iris (Arkansas)My cousin sent me this bearded iris from Arkansas last year. I put it in a pot so I would remember where it was. This is the first bloom, and the color is so rich. It reminds me of orange sherbet.

Photo: Giving LifeI was trying to give life to my skeleton by putting baby's breath in his chest, and decided to put the rose in his hands. I don't know how I got the rose to glow. The sun just hit it at the exact moment I was taking my picture. It was amazing.

Squeeze Bottles to Water PlantsMy house plants and some of my outside planters are hard to water without spilling water everywhere when getting to the center of the plants. I have been rinsing out my dish soap bottles really well and using them.

Wildlife: Adult GrosbeaksWe had 3 adults and 4 babies at the feeders. They all left by the time I got my camera. This pair was still feeding. I have noticed that this bird does not feed its young, like some other species do.

Candy Striped Rose BudIn this first picture the rose bud caught my eye as I was heading out to the side garden. After I downloaded it, I went to re-size the picture, and to my surprise saw these two aphids, single file, heading down the red strip like it was a road.

Tables from an Old TreeOne of the oldest trees was blocking our garage. I have no choice but to cut it down, but I did not want it to go to waste. I asked my brother if he could make it into tables for the garden.

Wildlife: Oriole at the FeederThis guy comes to visit at least 3 times a day. We give him half an orange once a week. One usually hears an oriole before he sees it. When I first heard his call, I looked up and couldn't see anything.

Wildlife: Tree FrogI found this little guy on the handle of my grill after staining my patio. I thought it was a piece of tree bark, and then thought it was an unusual stone. I went to pick it up, and it was soft...ewww.

Garden: My Little Garden Friend (Robinson, IL)I was doing some weeding last year, and came across this busy little honeybee. I watched him for quite a while. It made my day!

Garden: Voodoo Lily Bloom (Folkston, GA)The voodoo lily is a very unique flower. It is a corm, not a bulb. To bloom it requires very little care. Like the ones in the wild, it needs spring floods and mulch with light fertilizer.
