Add Small Amount of Bleach to Dish Water
Ive been doing this for years. I keep a small bottle of bleach under the sink and use only a scant capful.
Use a Toothbrush for Cleaning
Been using my old toothbrushes for this purpose for many years. They get into places that are difficult to reach. I have one in the bathroom (under the sink) and one in the kitchen. I especially like them to clean the fixtures and the rims of the sinks.

Using Pool Chlorine Tablets in the Toilet?
I am not sure about the chlorine tablets, but I drop a generic brand denture cleaner tablet (it has the identical ingredients as the pricey name brand) into my toilet each day and it keeps it sparkling clean.
