get some goo-gone from walmart and try that. It gets lots of gooey tape and stickers off of anything. Ive used it on clothes also. Then launder again to get the goo-gone off.

I had the same thing. Get the adhesive off with goo gone. Then I used a Mr. Clean eraser and the dark stain came right off. Mr. Clean eraser is amazing on so many things.
