Put them in a sink or plastic dishpan, cover with warm water, add 1/2 cup bleach and some more warm water to mix the bleach around. If all the discoloration doesnt soak out, repeat. If you are worried about doing this, just try one sand dollar to start with...
Was Oatmeal Originally Soaked Prior to Cooking?
Im 71 and remember my grandmother on the farm fixing oatmeal everyday for breakfast. She never soaked it but did use the skim milk from the cream separator to cook the oatmeal in instead of water.
