How Do I Get Rid of Slugs?
They dont like prickly, sharp surfaces so the broken eggshells is a good idea or any broken bits and pieces (like broken sea shells) placed around the plants they seem to favor. The eggshells will eventually decompose and help fertilize the soil. Im surprised...

Intruder in Finch Bird Nest?
I wonder if that is a cowbird egg? Is it kind of blue with brown specks? They lay an egg in a different birds nest. When the egg hatches, the foster parents will feed it. Its just the way they procreate. It doesnt harm the finches but their diet probably wont...

Container Gardening - Thinking Outside The Box
I belong to a Garden Junk forum at another site and Im amazed at the cool planters people have come up with - old shoes with holes in them, a retired bike helmet, old sinks and bathtubs, wringer washers, wheel barrows and even an old row boat. Ive seen something...

Keep A Smile On A Little Gardener's Face
He looks very sweet! The next time you plant a sunflower from seed, or any plant that bunnies like, make a wire cage to put around the young plant from chicken wire. Once the plant is more established, you can remove the cage and save it for next year.

Recliner Fix?
Maybe Im not frugal enough but I have purchased slipcovers from Surefit.com for my worn out furniture. The covers, depending upon the fabric, can last for years and are machine washable. They make stretch covers for recliners ranging in price from $60-$70 right...
