Clothing Advice for a Formal Business Event
I've been invited to a Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year Awards night and the dress is stated as formal. The thing is, I have no idea what to wear!
Microwave Safe Mugs
How do you tell if a coffee mug (or any other dish, for that matter) is safe to use in the microwave? I buy a lot of mugs at thrift shops and yard sales, so some of them are probably old enough that they might not be safe.
Dodge Stratus Reviews
How do you rate a Dodge Stratus? How hard is it to repair?
Instead of the traditional Valentine cards for mom, dad, a grandparent or friend, make special banners to send your message.
Uses for Tissue Boxes
Here are some creative ways to reuse tissue boxes. Post your own ideas below.
Easy Stove Humidifier
During this cold winter weather, the air in our homes gets terribly dry and some people don't like the added work of keeping a humidifier machine clean. An easier way to keep moister in the home is to keep a pot of water on a low burner on the kitchen stove.
Basil-Feta Pasta Salad
Cook pasta according to package directions. While this is cooking, make pesto by placing basil, pine nuts, parmesan, garlic and olive oil in a food processor and mixing thoroughly
Sunday Night Ham Sandwiches
Combine ingredients and spread on bread. This makes a good sandwich filling that everyone seems to enjoy. Bologna can be used as a substitute for regular ham.
Repair Sneakers With Silicone Sealant
Just when you're letting out a big sigh because the kids have ripped the sole and fabric apart in another pair of sneakers, consider this: repair the sneaker by gluing it with silicone, the kind you use in bathroom repairs.
Bee-safe Soda Cover
We have had a lot of problems with bees, small and large, before the cold weather hit. We love to sit outside and when having a cold soft drink, those pesky things come around.
Use Vaseline To Avoid Dry Legs
In the winter, I take extra hot showers and end up with dry very itchy legs. I no longer have that problem because, right before I get in the shower, I slather my legs with Vaseline. It repels the hot water from going directly on my legs.
Maraschino Cherry Cake
Cream butter or margarine and sugar together until like whipped cream. Chop cherries and nuts and sprinkle half of the sifted flour, baking powder and salt over them.
Cell Phones for Noting Ideas
Have you ever had a thought or idea, and had it just "go" right out of your mind when the phone rang or there was some kind of interruption? My daughter says "Mom, I swear I am going to buy you some ginko!"
Use De-icer on Your Boot Cleaner
If you use a brush-type boot/shoe cleaner for snow removal, sprinkle it with your snow and ice melter as you do your walks, etc. The snow won't build up to the point that it can't be used to clean the bottom of your boots.
Jigsaw Puzzle Ornaments 2006
These two photos show ornaments that are much different than the green and red ones I made in 1992. After writing the directions for these, I decided to make some more. I assembled a 550 piece puzzle and sprayed it gold.
Turkey Rice Soup
I freeze leftover chopped turkey at Thanksgiving and make this soup a couple of months later. Chicken would be just as good. My kids love this simple soup.
Gingersnap Pie Crust
Combine crumbs, sugar, butter or margarine and mix thoroughly. Press into bottom and sides of 9 inch pie pan. Place in refrigerator until firm. Chiffon-type pies are delicious in this crust.
Chicken and Dumplings Casserole
Sift together the dry ingredients. Cut in the shortening. Blend in 3/4 cup of the milk. Roll out on a floured board or pastry cloth into 12x18 inch rectangle. Cut into 6 squares.combine the mushrooms, chicken, onion, 1 cup of the peas and 1/2 of the soup.
Super Oatmeal Cookies
Combine the sugars, applesauce, egg, margarine, and vanilla in a large mixing bowl. Mix in the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, quick oats, raisins, and chopped walnuts.
Max (Lab, Rock and Chow Mix)
Max (Lab, Rock and Chow Mix). Max is 4 years old and is a Lab, Rock and Chow mix. He was my daughter's pet for 3 years. She moved and couldn't take him with her so I guess I adopted him.
Here's a cute, easy to make Snowman you make from a jar, some flannel, and raffia.
