Chemical Free Lawn CareWe spend a lot of time trying to achieve the perfect lawn. Most of our energy is directed at discouraging the plants we don't want by using weed killing herbicides and insect eradicating pesticides-chemicals that are known to be poisonous. There is a healthier and easier way based on the principle that "less is more."

Vinnie Vega (Toy Fox Terrier)Vinnie Vega is a 7 month old Toy Fox Terrier. I recieved Vinnie as a birthday present about a month ago. He is a big change for me as we have 3 other dogs, 2 of which are labs and 1 boxer, so he is quite small in comparison.

Add Baking Soda to ConditionerI used the tip posted by someone earlier about using salt with shampoo and it works great. My hair didn't look dull anymore. I took that one step further this morning, after adding salt to my shampoo, I mixed baking soda with my conditioner, and my hair looks even better, and a lot softer.

Refilling Laundry Detergent DispensersI buy the economy size jugs of laundry detergent to refill a button-spout type jug for ease of dispensing the soap. I've found that pouring the soap from the regular type jug into the one that has the button spout is messy and quite a bit of detergent remains in the jug because of the configuration of the spout.

Birds Eating My Marigolds?Every year I plant marigolds around my vegetable garden. This year the birds have eaten the flowers off the plants just before they fully bloom. We have a fairly dry spring this year. The years before they have consumed only a few flowers, not all of them.

What's this Flower? The leaves look "maple like" but with three major sections. The flowers stand up from the leaves. Because there is other foliage around them, it might be hard to tell but hopefully someone can identify this for me.

French Apple Pie?Does anyone have a recipe for French Apple Pie? This is a two crust pie with a dense filling of apples and raisins. The top has a white icing. Not a soft, thick cake type icing -- it is thin and sort of brittle.
