I had the wonderful privilege of showing the beautiful sights of Michigan's upper peninsula to our relatives from Florida. The leaves in Florida do not change color as they do here, and they were spellbound.

A pumpkin that sagged after being carved
Bad PumpkinFirst time carving a pumpkin, and I thought I'd done an awesome job! The next day, I brought my mom out to the front porch to brag about my masterpiece, and it was certainly nothing to brag about anymore.

Breath-taking Rainbow (Springwater, NY)In order to get this photo, I stood out in the rain and didn't mind one bit. Though I needed a panoramic camera as it was such a complete rainbow. I could see both ends clearly, but couldn't get it all in one shot.

Jesus on the Cross (South Dakota)I love traveling in my state to different towns and cities and come across some pretty interesting crosses (like this one), found in the back of a cemetary. I took this traveling down the road at around 55 - 60 miles per hour. I got it home, cropped it and thought about what name I should give it.

Smoke Bush (North Carolina)This is a picture of my smoke bush and it is really smoking! It has attractive burgundy leaves. The sap of the tree is white which I think is unusual. It's one of my favorites (I have a lot of favorites!)

A Star Within A Star (Okra Flower)This is a beautiful picture of a flower from my okra plant. To me the flowers are a blend of an orchid and magnolia blossom. I love the way I captured the morning dew. Who knew such a beautiful flower would come from a vegetable plant!

Ducks swimming in reflection of the sun on the lake.
Ducks in Sunset (Lake Lure, NC)We were visiting Lake Lure, a placid lake nearby, with a marina and many tourist attractions. I suddenly looked to my left and noticed how magical these ducks looked, swimming over the water right as the setting sun cast its reflection. It looks as if the ducks are swimming over the sun! The ripples their swimming bodies make add even more magic to the effect. I quickly asked Jim to take the photo - glad it came out!

Incredible Sunset (Marshall, NC)I feel blessed to live in a beautiful place, and the view of the hills and neighbouring pastures is particularly lovely at any time of year or place.

Blooming Christmas CactusI have grown Christmas Cactus (Schlumbergera) for many years. Living in a mild and temperate climate, I get blooms a few times a year, and the colors are magnificent.
