Have you ever looked underneath your vacuum brush? Or notice your vacuum isn't functioning at full capacity/strength. Or perhaps the roller is stuck and not suctioning well. If so, see if there is hair stuck like mine. Easy to fix.

Tip: Embroidery Floss Organizer

This is a way to organize little bits of leftover embroidery floss. Use the plastic holders that come on packages of bread. Wrap the floss around the center of the plastic holder. Store in a plastic craft container with dividers and organize by color.

Cinnamon Fruit DipI substituted plain yogurt for the sour cream and 1/2 packet of Splenda Naturals for the sugar. I added 1/2 chopped, unpeeled apple. This is a healthy snack, with lots of variety.

A gift bag with a tag written with a dry erase marker.

Gift Tag DilemmaWe re-use our gift bags which is not unusual. But since we can't "re-use" the tag and using the sticky tags to put on a gift bag ruins the bag, I came up with this solution. I purchased from the dollar store some dry erase labels. Now I can leave the labels on the gift bag and erase them each time I use the gift bag.

Salvaging a Basset Chest of DrawersOn a trip to the laundromat, I saw what appeared to be a chest of drawers. I pulled over and stopped so that I could get a closer look. Indeed it was a chest of drawers. Looked ugly enough. Some sort of mustard yellow puke color. All 5 drawers were there. The bottom of the chest looked as though it had been sitting in 5 inches of water. Long enough so that the lower decorative part of its foundation and bottom slat of wood had disintegrated. I opened the top drawer and it appeared brand new, albeit dusty, dirty and webby.

Unusual VasesI like the items in my household to have functional uses. The items in these pictures also have a sentimental value. The jars are old canning jars from my grandma's old cellar. I use them for vases in my kitchen. The can is an old battery can from my grandpa's old plumbing truck. I am using it as a large vase in my family room.

Keep Wrapping Paper NeatWhen I have a large roll of wrapping paper, I will only take one half of the cellophane off the wrapper and cut pieces of the top half of the wrapping paper, leaving the bottom still intact in the cellophane and nice and neat.

Removing Blood from GarmentI was in the hospital this week with a hip replacement. I had gotten all dressed to come home and the student nurse removed the IV from my arm. Next thing we knew, the gauze was soaked with blood and blood was running down my arm. A big drop fell on my shirt. The Physical Therapy lady told me to spit on it. The enzymes in my spit would help to take it out.

Combining Snacks to Save SpaceI recently went to the dollar tree and found these snack breakfast bars. When I got them home, I realized that each one had 5 packettes in them. But they were taking up almost no room. So, I opened them both and saw I could fit all 10 in one package. I saved room in the pantry and they didn't flop around in the box and get broken.

Keep Children's Puzzles OrganizedI get 3 laundry bags for $1 at Dollar Tree. They are perfect for storing puzzles. If the puzzle gets knocked over, the pieces remain in the bag.

Quick Fix for Rubber GlovesWhen your rubber gloves don't slip on easily, try putting a dab of corn starch in them. Blow air into the glove like you would a balloon and give it a shake. The corn starch makes putting them on much easier.

Slippery Shampoo BottleI have a hard time holding onto the wide shampoo bottles with wet hands. I saw an empty syrup bottle. It has rings around the top and is not as wide at the top. I emptied my shampoo into it. Now I can securely hold on to it in the shower.

You Can Cut a Frozen TurkeyDue to the virus, it will just be my husband and me for Thanksgiving. I purchased the smallest turkey breast I could find, but even that is too much. Both of us prefer the taste of turkey the first day. Since the meat was already frozen, the butcher at the store was unable to cut it.

Pie Crust ProtectorThe outer rim of a disposable aluminum pie pan works well to keep pie crust from browning too much. Cut the rim of the pie pan and place it on top of the pie crust while baking.

Alternate Uses for a Wreath HangerI've purchased several wreath hangers through the years, but had started using a magnet hook for my front door wreaths, so had several wreath holders being stored in the attic, and I finally found a good use for them. I put the wreath holders on my metal wire shelves in the utility room, and they are so handy for all sorts of things, like hanging up a little basket for sorting lightweight clothing after doing the laundry, hanging up a jacket, or holding hangers, so they're all ready, when I hang up clothing out of the dryer, to be moved to the closet.

Coffee Travel Mug TipsSometimes, I just get in a hurry and don't think. When trying to take the top off my coffee mug, I all too often put the opening right next to my shirt on my chest for some 'leverage' and duh, coffee stain! I'm learning. Much better when you make sure the opening is to the side, when taking off the lid.

A clean glass jar with no label residue.

How to Remove a Jar LabelI removed this jar label by holding it over the spout of my kettle of hot steaming water. Within a couple of seconds, it loosened the glue and I was able to peel the label a little at the time. It took only a few seconds to remove the whole label. Easy as pie.

Travel Toothbrush Holder for Makeup BrushesI never used this toothbrush holder for toothbrushes but really needed a case for my new makeup brushes. The toothbrush holder works very well for storing and protecting them.
