Aww poor thing. He looks so pitiful. I hope he is feeling better. When we boarded our dogs in the past we always left old blankets or t shirts with our scents on them for the dogs. It helped their anxiety.

If I had to guess maybe lab and pit mix? From the solidness of the shoulder area and the way his legs turn I see some bulldog of some sort, and the way his eyes are shaped.
