Clam and Cauliflower ChowderDrain juice from clams and pour over frozen cauliflower and carrots in small pan. Add enough water to cover and cook until tender. Save liquid. Melt butter, add flour and salt, add milk; cook until smooth and thick, stirring constantly.

Vegetable MeatloafDifferent and very tasty from the traditional tomato or ketchup meatloaf. Mix hamburger, grated vegetables and salt, add stuffing with seasoning mix, eggs, milk and 1/2 can of mushroom soup, saving the other half.

Company is Coming Mac and CheeseExcellent taste, pretty, very nutritious, on hand ingredients, and cheap. Cook macaroni, drain and set aside. Melt butter, add flour. When it thickens, add milk and salt and pepper. This a a basic white sauce at this point.

Crocheted Chain Craft IdeasWhen you have made your chain, you simply have to get a hook bigger than you did the chain with and pick a project. For instance, for a hot pad, make a chain the size of the work you want to do, in an even amount, then make a single crochet in the second chain from the hook.

Halloween: Box O' Popcorn CostumeI took a box, painted it white. Then I painted red stripes, leaving a spot to make the circle (I used a pan lid to make the circle.) I cut holes out for his head and arms (cut the flaps off the open end of the box where the legs come out).

Be Accurate In Recipe AmountsA few dairy companies are now manufacturing butter wrapped in 2 ounce sticks instead of 4 ounce sticks so it would be a good idea to make sure any recipe you give out clearly states either the ounces, tablespoon or cup amounts instead of simply saying "a stick of butter".

 

Buddy (Shih-Tzu/Poodle)Buddy is a 2 year old Shih-Tzu/Poodle. We adopted Buddy from a rescue organization in Algonquin, IL, who had saved his entire litter from a puppy mill. We adopted him when he was ten weeks old, and he weighed less than three pounds.

Rust or Mineral Stains on Laundry?The water we have coming into our home has rust in it. It is city water. It created orangish spots on our clothes (many friends suffer this same problem). However, the spots appear on browns, grays, and some yellows. They do not appear on reds, pinks, or greens.
