We have many little visitors to our birdbath each day. Usually the squirrels only like the bird food, but Texas summers are unforgiving even for the wildlife. We would all like some relief, send rain and a nice cool breeze, please.

Pink hibiscus flower
Garden: Hibiscus Finally in BloomEvery winter our Hibiscus plants get hit hard. It takes this long for them to revive, even here in Florida. I am always amazed at how precise mother nature is with flowers.

Photo: Mom and My Sis (1940's)My mom was giving Sis a drink of warm cow's milk from a canning jar on my Uncle and Aunt's farm. She was born in 1941, and she looks to be about a year old. We had no idea milk came from cows, but Sis liked it so much she decided to take off with it.

Wildlife: Yellow-billed Duck (Austin Roberts Bird...I went to the Austin Roberts Bird Sanctuary for some quiet time, and saw this little fellow lazily swimming around. The calmness of the water, and the beauty of the surroundings were exactly the perk-me-ups I needed!

Beautiful sculptured fountain in New Orleans.
Fountain at French Market (New Orleans, LA)This fountain stands at the entrance to the French Market area in New Orleans, LA. Though it is more than 100 years old, it survived Hurricane Katrina and no restoration has had to be done! Amazing!

Garden: Clematis (Marshall, TX)We live in east Texas where the summer are so hot and humid. It is always wonderful to see the spring flowers before it heats up. These big clematis are so beautiful, and always bring such joy.

Wildlife: Byron the Cheetah (Anne Van Dyk Cheetah...We went to the Anne van Dyk Cheetah Centre in De Wildt on July 9, 2011. This is Byron, one of the centre's ambassador cheetahs. We were able to pose for photos with Byron, and to stroke his back.

Scenery: Wildflowers (Texas)I love all flowers, but wildflowers are my favorite. It's amazing just how many types there are, and how beautiful some are. I spotted a bunch of these bright yellow faces on the side of a road, and grabbed my camera to get a few shots.

Sea Turtle in the Ocean (Gulf of Mexico)I was just enjoying the view of the open ocean, when all of a sudden I heard water splashing and a low hum from the water. As I looked over, there was this huge sea turtle. It was easily four feet wide.

Bull Elk (Nutwood Observatory, Bancroft, ON)Here is one of our resident elk having the time of his life keeping cool. You can almost read his mind. "What more can I ask for; a hill full of cool, fresh clover, along with my own salt block? This has to be heaven!"
