Make your own crustless sandwiches for school lunches.

Homemade "Uncrustables"
What a great idea! I too, dislike buying the uncrustables from the store because of price but sometimes I need the convenience of something quick to pack in the mornings. Thanks for sharing!

Sour Cream Lemon Cheesecake
I love a nice lemon cheesecake and this recipe sounds different than the usual plain cheesecake. I think I will try this tomorrow as I have extra cream cheese around since it was on sale. Sounds yum.

Freezing Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup?
I agree with not freezing noodles-they do turn gross and mushy. I dont freeze soups but do freeze homeade chicken broth so when it comes time to make soup all I have to do is add fresh veggies and meat to simmering broth after it has been thawed.

Buy Matching Socks
I also buy matching socks. We go through so many that it does save time and money by having another sock as a spare. I also did this with winter mittens-after the season I would buy a few pairs of the same kind and if one got lost or damaged beyond repair there...

Reusing Tins

Reusing Tins
I mostly reuse plastic or glass jars with screw top lids ( pasta sauce, peanut butter jars) that I use for home made chocolate syrup, fudge or caramel sauce, etc. I have been reusing empty cocoa powder containers for baking soda. I hate having open boxes in...

When Are You Being Too Frugal?

When Are You Being Too Frugal?
There are a few items on this list that I have done or do. I hate thinking back to when we had such little money that I did use iffy food for not wanting to waste the money by throwing it out and having not much left to eat. I do a couple other items posted...

Homemade Iced Tea
I agree with Lilac. Years ago I used to make sun tea but stopped because it is unsafe to drink. Please boil your water for tea. Iced tea is great on hot a day-just be safe.

Whipping Evaporated Milk?
You can whip evaporated milk but I have a hard time doing so-even when all utensils are ice cold. I have tried maybe 5 times and only twice did it work well. Good luck if you try and hope it turns out!

Whiter Teeth?
Try brushing with a paste of baking soda and water. You will have to get used to the taste but after a while you get used to it.

My girls are a little young yet but I intend on doing the same thing either when they move out or a few years later when they are tired of lousy frozen melas or gross fast food and start wanting real food.

Peanut Butter Bars
These do sound good and not too many ingredients is great since I dont always have a lot of baking ingredients to make baked goods and I find it expensive to buy cookies and bars, ect, at the store. My family likes peanut butter so I think I will bake this...

Grocery Shopping Tips
I find most times that brand name items on sale and with a coupon are cheaper than store brand. You hit the nail on the head though with endcap products and eye level items. Sometimes generic brands are brand name products just with the different label but...

Honey Yogurt Fruit Salad
This looks great! I will also add in a banana or two since we usually have them on hand. I think the lemon yogurt sauce will be a hit with my family!

My Frugal Life: Appreciate What You Have
Well-written story. Your children are lucky to have someone to watch and learn from. Money issues will most likely be here for most people and the younger the better to learn what is a need vs. want, which the latter can always wait to be had.
