Pull Cord on Lawnmower is Too Long? The starter pull cord on my lawnmower is a bit too long for my arm, so the mower is hard for me to start up. What can I do to simplify this? It's the only reason I dislike mowing!

Selecting the Perfect Comforter?I need your recommendations for a comforter to cover my whole king-size bed during the day and night. Both outer fabric and inner fill, please.

Attracting Squirrels to My Yard? How can I attract squirrels to my yard? Most of my foliage is down by the river at the far end of my 3/4-acre property. For the 2 years I've been here I've been adding small bushes and trees closer to the house.

Installing a Tip Out Sink Tray? Can anyone please tell me how to make a kitchen tip-out drawer? Under the sinks I have those 2 sealed drawer covers that do nothing.

Removing Faux Ninelite Plastic Grid on Door Window? The upper part of my metal exterior door is one largish window, having a vinyl/plastic/resin faux framework that creates a 9-pane look in it. I'm about to spray paint the door with Rustoleum and would like to remove this grid, perhaps leaving it off entirely afterwards.

Futon Mattress Keeps Slipping?I have an older type tri-fold futon, that I use mostly in 1 of its 3 different upright positions on the back 1/3. The problem is, no matter which position it's in, the entire mattress slips down towards the bottom until the bottom rests on the floor.

Cutting heating Costs By Blocking Open Doorways?I need your advice. My 2 largest rooms, between them, have 3 open doorways, yet I seldom use these areas (at least for now). My gas heat bills can be enormous, and blocking the vents alone doesn't quite solve the problem.

Inexpensive Silicone Oven Mitts?Has anyone found a site online or a store where you can buy silicone oven mitts for under $10 (including any s/h that might be involved)? Wal-Mart's on-line price is around $15 which seems too high for just one. Thanks!

Difficulty Removing Nails from Wood?My bedroom windowsills have had nails driven into them, too flush with the wood to remove them with the hammer head thingy. It looks like the previous owners might have nailed heavy plastic on the inside windows, with remnants of plastic left around some of the nails.

Replacing the Glass Shades on Ceiling Fan Light Fixture? The house I moved into has a bedroom fan, the sort with 3 glass tulip sconces sticking out at 45-angles. I really dislike that feature; also, I've replaced the original bulbs with CFLs, meaning that the tulips wouldn't cover the bulbs anyway.

Getting Rid of Ants in Recycling? My recycling system is attracting ants. Can you help? I rinse out cat food cans, plastic bottles, and place them in a plastic bag hanging from my kitchen doorknob. I take the bag every couple of days to a local recycling center, and sort through the bag there.

Make Your Own Mailbox? The mailbox along the road at my house is the standard black plastic domed type (you can glimpse a tiny picture of it it to the visual right of my steps). It leaks. The door's crooked.

Recycling Used Cat Litter? How can I recyle cat litter waste? Right now, my bags of it end up in trash disposal. I know someone who directly created a slope of it over a cliff, over time! In the past, I've used it to fill holes in my property.

Unique Strap On Sod Cutter?Have any of you seen or created some sort of sod cutter that straps in some way onto a shoe? Let me explain. I've read that one of the best ways to create a short pathway in the garden is by digging up small sections of sod and filling these in directly with concrete.

Making a Deep Kitchen Cabinet More Accesible? Is there an easy and inexpensive way to modify a deep-to-the-side corner cabinet that's under my kitchen counter to make it more accessible? The way it is now, I have to get on my hands and knees and shove my items to the closed-in side to the right. So, in order to get to these baking pans, etc. I must unload part of the cabinet in front of me first. Any suggestions?

Housebreaking an Abused Dog?I recently took in an abused female, maybe a Bluetick, who had been running for a week in a high-traffic area with a collar, but no tags. 4 weeks later, after being treated for pneumonia, she had a litter of 7 pups.
