Retired English teacher. Married for 44 years, wonderful 34-year-old son. No grandkids, but 3 granddogs and 6 grandcats. Two new kittens this year, Harvey and Starr (who won a beauty contest here, you know!)

Love my TV, internet, books, crafting, knitting. Don't miss teaching, though I loved it at one time.

Raising a Non-Picky ChildI was an extremely picky kid, I admit. I didn't think I liked anything - no vegetables or any strange or new food. I was pretty much meat and potatoes, and sweets, of course. My parents would demand that I eat; forcing me, threatening, even hitting, and withholding desserts if I didn't "clean my plate."

Keep Your Wedding SimpleI've been married going on 44 years, and personally, I don't see why you have to break the bank or go into debt to have a huge, fabulous wedding. Now, if somebody has the money, then what they do is their business.

A jar of coins spilling out on a white background.

Cashing In Pocket ChangeMy husband won't spend change, so we wind up with piles of change on his dresser. Every so often, I'll take it to Coinstar in our grocery store. I found that I can turn the coins into an Amazon e-coupon, for free. I just cash in the coins and then add the code to my Amazon account.

The finished package, tied with string.

Homemade GiftwrapMaking a small piece of gift wrap using brown paper and my computer printer. I needed some gift wrap for a small book, and because I'm still recovering from shoulder surgery, I didn't want to have to drive into town (7 miles round trip) to buy more.

Starr Jennyanydots (Tabby)

Starr Jennyanydots (Tabby)Adopted from a pet rescue at about 8 weeks. She likes to sleep, fight with her brother, sleep some more, run all over the house, curl up with me and sleep some more. Play with string, foil balls, toy mice, eat my plants, and tonight I caught her licking a stick of butter I'd put out for the butter bell.
