Mustard VinaigretteMost of us have these items readily available in our kitchen :-) This recipe is a healthy, tasty alternative to bottled dressings that are expensive and that contain a lot of added chemicals. Yield: 12 lightly dressed salads

 

Frosty Strawberry SaladCombine all ingredients in bowl; mix well. Pour into 9x12 inch dish. Freeze until firm. Let stand at room temperature for 15 minutes before serving.

 

FlanCaramelize 1/4 cup sugar in bottom of 1 1/2 qt. metal mold; tilt to coat all sides. Mix remaining ingredients except eggs in bowl. Strain beaten eggs into milk mixture. Pour into mold; cover with aluminum foil and secure with rubber band.

 

Corn and Rice CasseroleSaute' onion, green pepper and celery in butter in skillet until brown. Add pimento, corn and sugar. Beat egg with rice in bowl. Add to corn mixture; mix well.

 

Italian Sausage LasagnaBrown ground beef and onion. Slices garlic and add salt, pepper, oregano, parsley, tomato paste, water and tomato sauce to meat. Simmer uncovered for 30 minutes. Cook lasagna noodles as label directs. Drain and cover with cold water.

 

Sausages and ApplesCore and slice apples; do not peel. Layer apples and brown sugar in 2 qt. casserole. Cook rice using package directions. Spoon into casserole. Pour boiling water over sausages.

 

Crockpot JambalayaStir the stock, Creole seasoning, pepper, onion, celery, tomatoes (or Manwich). Then add all except last 4 ingredients. Add sausage, chicken and rice in a 5 to 6 quart slow cooker. Cover and cook on LOW for 4 hours or until the chicken is cooked through.

 

Grouper or Snapper with Sweet PeppersIn a small bowl, combine soy sauce and lemon juice. Pour 1/4 cup marinade in a resealable plastic bag, and add fish. Seal bag and turn to coat. Refrigerate for 20 minutes. Cover and refrigerate remaining marinade.

 

Cook and Toss CabbageYou can still get a good size head of cabbage for less than $1. This recipe will brighten up your regular old boiled cabbage. I have already made this twice since St. Patty's Day when I had this for the first time.

 

Creamy Bacon Corn Fry bacon; set aside. Drain all but 3 tablespoons drippings from skillet. Cook and stir green pepper and onions in drippings until onion is tender. Add remaining ingredients.

 

Easy Waldorf Salad for OneThe nice thing about this recipe is the fact you can add more yogurt or fruit if you want. This helps to get your daily fruit in, as well as something easy to make and enjoy as a desert or used during dinner. Please try this. I am sure you will like it.

Heat Rutabagas in Microwave for Easier ChoppingAs most know the rutabagas you get in the stores are so hard you can not cut them. I always heat mine in the microwave for a few minutes. This makes it softer so it is easier to peel and cut into small pieces.

 

Baking Soda and Salt for Cleaning PorcelainTo clean kitchen and bathroom sinks, I mix half a wide mouthed mason jar of baking soda with a 1/4 cup of pickling salt (large grained). It works great, is very cheap and simply dissolves as you use it.

Use Cork Board to Organize Meat in FreezerWe hang a cork board by the freezer to organize the meat in our freezer. List each type of meat along one side of the board, such as Beef, Chicken, Pork. Under these categories we list such as chicken, boneless breasts leg quarters and ground.
