Novelty Layer Squares
Cream shortening; gradually add 3/4 cup sugar, beating well at medium speed of an electric mixer. Add egg yolks and 1/2 tsp. vanilla; beat mixture well.
Applesauce Drop Doughnuts
Combine first 4 ingredients in a large bowl; beat at medium speed until blended. Combine flour and next 5 ingredients; add to sugar mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Stir in applesauce and vanilla.
Baked Sausage Patties
Shape sausage into 8 patties about 3/4 inch thick; place on a rack in a broiler pan.
Combine sugar and 4 cup water in a medium saucepan; bring to a boil, stirring until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and let cool. Combine syrup, grapefruit juice, and next 3 ingredients.
Kentucky Ham 'n Angel Biscuits
Combine yeast and warm water; let stand 5 minutes. Add buttermilk, and set aside. Combine flour and next 3 ingredients in a large bowl; cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal.
