When I buy tortillas, I may not always use them right away, so I freeze them to keep them fresh and in one piece as the day I bought them.

6 ears of cooked corn in a crockpot.
Crock Pot Corn on the CobI experimented and cooked 6 ears of corn on the cob in the Crock Pot. I had never heard of anyone doing this but I found out that it works great! It was so good that my husband went back to the grocery store and bought more corn today so I could take pictures and share this idea on ThriftyFun.

Filleting Fresh Salmon
Filleting Fresh SalmonIn our household, we prefer to fillet our own salmon/fish at home even though it is a complimentary service at most grocery stores. The reason is at the stores, you are paying the total weight price of the fish "before" being fillet. Therefore depending on the level of experience the workers have, you could potentially lose out on meat and money, if they do not fillet close.

The Nitty Gritty On Peeling Boiled EggsI was thinking that overcooking the eggs literally glues the membrane to the egg white. This is a fact. Then, I thought that allowing the egg to cool before peeling would cause the membrane to shrink somewhat, making it fit tighter around the egg white. And, though I couldn't find a video on such, I was sure commercially peeled boiled eggs aren't given a cool down period.

Paint Key to Open JarsI use a paint key to open jars, especially pickle. It fits under the lip of the lid. When you press down on the handle, it releases the vacuum which breaks the seal and makes the jar easy to open.

Using Cherry TomatoesMy cherry tomatoes are getting ripe and I plan to make tomato juice and put it in the freezer. I am enjoying snacking on these sweet cherry tomatoes. The skins are tough so I have to remove that from my mouth after chewing on it.

Tips For Boiling EggsI want my eggs firm enough for slicing but not really hard boiled. I've forgotten them a couple of times and cooked them too long. I found there is a direct relationship between how long an egg is boiled and how easily it can be peeled, and whether there is a green cast to the outer part of the yolk.
