When shopping with young children please use the seat belts and child seats in buggies. I have seen children almost fall out or climb out themselves. You know it only "takes a second" for something awful to happen.

Recently, while shopping, my infant daughter (10 mos) was in her carseat in the cart, and my 3 year old daughter stood on the side of the cart for a split second, and the entire shopping cart tipped on its side, pinning my baby in the carseat, about 2 shelves off the floor, and my 3 year old daughter was also pinned under the cart. Luckily they walked away with only a few bruises. Please be careful when using narrow front ended carts, as this has never happened to us using wider carts. IT WAS SO SCARY!!

I certainly lived this nightmare. When my son was 9 months he pushed himself foward onto the parking lot head first! I was loading the car and only realized what had happened when I heard the loud thump and then the cry. Luckily his guardian angel was watching over him.

I know we should not put our purse in the seat, but I do. Since I don't have small children any more, I use the seat belt in store carts to secure my purse so it cannot be taken. I just loop it around the handle of my purse a couple of times. One woman lost her purse when she was putting her groceries in her car and her purse was just in the seat and not hooked up. The guy just came running past her and grabbed her purse. If she had her purse hooked up, it would have been impossible for him to take it with the cart attached to it.
