Cut the front off of a birthday, Christmas, anniversary, etc. card place it on a frosted cake, and outline it with a pretty color tube of decorating gel.

You could also try using a stencil and placing it over the top of the cake and sprinkling it with confectioner's sugar. Works best over dark icing. Then remove stencil and you have a professional look for pennies.
