My 19th birthday falls on the same weekend I move into the dorms at college, hours away from home. I don't know my new roommate and want my birthday to be a good time. Last year's party was terrible since I left the next day and many people had other plans so most people were no shows. I don't like celebrating my birthday really early. I don't have a clue what to do! Please Help Me!

I think this is a great opportunity to have an "excuse" to get to know your roommate and other dorm mates. Bring a cake and other munchies and soda, tell them it's your birthday, and ask them if they would "do you a favour" and help you to celebrate. I think you'll be really popular with that strategy! :->

P.S. And celebrate with your family and friends "back home" before you leave for school!

try writing to your roommate and make plans. you will also get to know her. write to some other friends. and you then have a a party.

I had the same problem when I was in college. My birthday was August 18th and my roommate's birthday was August 17th. We solved our problem, by celebrating our HALF birthdays in February. It was a hoot, and it broke up the winter doldrums!
