This idea is for a camping or emergencies. If you have need of a toilet when there isn't one around or there is no running water, you can improvise one by using a covered plastic bucket (recycled soy sauce ones are great), and urinating into the bucket, which you then close and later empty into a nearby facility or chemical toilet.

If it's solid waste, just put a plastic bag from the grocery store over the top of the bucket and eliminate into that, then tie up bag and double bag and throw away. (Using plastic bags for elimination in Africa, is, I understand, called a "flying toilet"!)

Also, males can always just pee into jars that can be closed! Just empty, rinse with water and spray with disinfectant to keep containers clean.

Good idea. I know I forget about emergencies.

We get hurricanes in FL and power goes out. No power, no sewer pump. This is a good alternative to have, just in case.

Pamphyila does have a good tip there. I would suggest using the plastic bag whether you are urinating or doing the "solid waste" thing, though.
And cat litter bins work great for this too. The lids snap on tight and when your trip is over you can either sanitize it or throw it away. If you have a cat you'll always be getting another bin! LOL
