Craft: Recycled Camping Lanterns

Recycled Camping Lanterns
contest winner icon
Our Cub Scout Pack is involved in Fall Camping. We made lanterns out of recycled plastic peanut butter jars. We used modge podge and affixed the Scout Promise to the outside. We used glow sticks to light their way. Loads of fun in the tent or outside after dark.

I used to be a Cub Scout leader when my son was young. They would have loved this idea. Very clever and inexpensive.

This is such a great idea! And lots of fun too!

---> I have an additional idea: I bet you could either tuck a piece of yarn or string under the cap right before you screw the lid on to make a handle for carrying or hanging it from. Or drill 2 holes in the plastic cap & thread a piece of yarn, string or dental floss in & out the 2 holes to make a handle. This way you can hang the lantern up in your tent or hang it from a tree branch or even from your belt. It helps to have a handle when you are carrying lots of other stuff

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
