We primed and painted our indoor wood doors, but the paint is peeling off. What can we do? We are moving and really don't want to buy new doors.

Just tried to put a fresh coat of paint on a textured ceiling. 90% looks good. 10% the texture is peeling off. What's wrong?

Were your doors painted before and you just freshened them up? If so, the doors were probably orignally painted with oil, which means you have to use the right primer. Scrape off where it's peeling all the way down to the original paint. Dip a rag in rubbing alcohol and apply it to the area. If the paint is not effected, it is oil. If it becomes tacky/sticky, it is laytex.

I'm with "luvmygingerkids" on this one...
It's probable that your primer was oil and your paint is waterbased.
It only works theother way around or if you match the bases.

Bring the can of primer and paint to Lowes or Home Depot and ask them if there is a reason for this. Only thing I can think of is perhaps the primer was oil based and the paint wasn't?
